“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6
We can all do something. Can you make a socially conscious purchase that helps set lives free and brings the good news of Christ’s unconditional love to a hurting world? Then make that purchase. Can you offer an evening of your time and invite your friends and family to come hear about the work Trade for Freedom is doing? Then host a party. Can you give up several evenings a month and advocate for freedom, dignity, and hope? Can you share these sisters’ stories, and sell their beautifully handcrafted bags, scarves, and jewelry to other women who care? Then become a Trade for Freedom Advocate and join our team!
Meet Satin Marshall – a passionate Trade for Freedom Advocate
We interviewed Satin to hear what drew her to Trade for Freedom, and how she answered the question, “What can you do?” Enjoy learning a bit about her heart!
Why are you an Advocate with Trade for Freedom? After becoming aware of how many human beings are still enslaved worldwide today, I became passionate about educating others to the horrors of this evil industry and became personally committed to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves due to extreme poverty or oppression.
What is your favorite thing about being an Advocate? I love that I can share the stories of these courageous women who have endured unimaginable hardships, but now are experiencing the freedom, dignity, and hope that Christ brings.
What is your favorite Trade for Freedom product? My favorite Trade for Freedom product is the NEW mini-messenger bag! It is super-cute, very trendy, inexpensive, and I love the fact that the name of the precious woman who made my bag is sewn inside. This helps me to remember to pray for her as she lives out her new life of freedom. Did I mention that the mini-messenger is super-cute as well?
What is one thing you want the readers to know? Each and every one of us can make a difference in stopping modern-day slavery. It’s about finding and committing to the way that works best for us. Some may choose to purchase products from Trade for Freedom and other like minded shops. Others shop at consignment stores versus purchasing clothing and goods from big brands that often contribute to slavery. Some may decide to host a Trade for Freedom event or party in their community. Still others may commit to pray for the women who are working to regain their lives. Or perhaps there are a few who would love to become a Freedom Advocate, like me. The point is, we all can play a part, make a difference, and change a life!
